Welcome to the Shoulder of Mutton we offer a family operated bed and breakfast above our public house and we are located just a short stroll from the heart of one of Europe's most historic cities.
The Shoulder of Mutton is the perfect place to stay to visit York including such attractions The original building was built in 1898 and offers guests individually decorated rooms featuring all the modern conveniences you could possibly need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We are fully licensed with a large range of beers, spirits and wines and also have a beautiful large garden at the rear which our guest can enjoy a drink and feel free to relax in.All our rooms and public areas are non-smoking.We have ample parking at the rear of the building free to our customers. For those who do not wish to stroll in to the city there is a regular bus service which picks up outside the building every 10 minutes. We offer a wide range of meals served on a lunch time and evening.

A short walk from the city centre of York.........Getting to Shoulder of Mutton couldn't be easier whether on foot or by car we are perfectly situated for access from all areas of the city and offer an excellent starting point for hundreds of worthwhile day trips and excursions including the Yorkshire coast, North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales.Getting here by foot.We are a short stroll from the Minster. From there head down Deangate into Goodramgate and through Monk Bar. Go straight ahead onto Monkgate and continue straight over the roundabout onto Heworth Green. We are situated approximately three hundred yards on the right.Getting here by car.Approaching York from any direction take the outer ring roadbypass (A1237 or A64) Follow direction signs for A64 Scarborough. At the Scarborugh roundabout on the north east side of York follow the signs for A1036 to York city centre, next large roundabout continue straight on A1036 to city center. Traffic lights, straight on, mini-roundabout, third exit, continue to city center. Three hundred yards on left is Shoulder of Mutton.
